The Georgetown Waterfront is one of the most scenic places to cycle in DC. With the Potomac River as your backdrop, historic Georgetown as your setting, and excellent riverside dining, it's the perfect destination for an evening bike ride. Here's your guide to making the most of Georgetown Waterfront cycling.
The Waterfront Promenade
The Georgetown Waterfront Promenade is a 1.5-mile paved path running from Key Bridge to Washington Harbour. It's the perfect distance for a leisurely evening ride, with stunning Potomac River views throughout. The path connects to the C&O Canal Towpath and Capital Crescent Trail for longer rides.
Sunset Rides
Georgetown is one of the best places in DC to watch the sunset by bike. Ride the promenade as the sun sets over the Potomac, casting golden light on the water and the Key Bridge. The Washington Harbour fountains and the Georgetown Waterfront Park are perfect spots to stop and enjoy the view.
Riverside Dining
Washington Harbour offers several excellent restaurants with outdoor seating right on the river. After a ride, lock up your bike and enjoy dinner or drinks with a waterfront view. Farmers Fishers Bakers and Tony and Joe's Seafood Place are local favorites.
Combining Trails
The waterfront is the perfect starting point for a longer ride. Head north on the C&O Canal Towpath for a nature ride, or take the Capital Crescent Trail to Bethesda. Cross Key Bridge to pick up the Mount Vernon Trail for a riverside ride to Old Town Alexandria.
